Madeline's First Bath

Madeline got her first real bath today. I know, at 3 weeks old it seems a bit late, but with all of the commotion of the past few days, I didn't even think of it when her chord fell off (about a week ago). So she had still been getting her "sponge" baths all week. This morning dad was home, so we decided to go ahead and capture the moment. Believe it or not, she actually liked it! No crying until we took her out of the water, burrrrrrrrr! We could have a little fishy on our hands!

Getting ready for the plunge!

Bracing herself for the water.

Maddie thinking, "Hmmmm, this path thing might not be so bad after all!"

Time for Shampoo! She's always liked this part, since day one in the hospital.

And now we are hating the bath. It's cold mom!

Our little flower all bundled up!

Madeline's First trip home to West Virginia

Madeline is officially a "Mountain Mama," as per John Denver, she had her first trip home to West Virginia this past weekend to meet the rest of the family. She was quite a trooper, she slept the entire trip down and the entire trip back, for those of you who don't know it's about a 4.5-5 hr. trip. Everyone loved her, especially all of the grandparents!

Here are some photos from the weekend.

Photo Shoot Preview

Madeline had her first photo shoot about a week and a half ago with Heidi Lynn Photography. Heidi was so great! Madeline wasn't into sleeping that day, so I am surprised that we got any shots of her with her eyese closed, she also decided to pee several times, once on dad and once on the bed, she also pooped all over me during the shoot. Hey, what can you expect from a newborn with out a diaper on. Anyway, we got some great shots, now all we have to do is decide which ones we want to order.

If you go to the client preview section at http://www.heidilynnephotography.com (click on the main picture first) and type in abjohnson, the gallery will be displayed.

Enjoy!

Posing

This past Thursday we headed out to the Autoport for our friend's birthday, Happy Birthday Katie! It was Madeline's first big night out, she did fabulously and everyone loved her. She was out the entire time that we were there, and while she was asleep Madeline started posing for us! She did the muscle one on her own, and after that, Katie had to see what else she could do...so the following pictures came from the posing that Katie helped Maddie with.

Doctor's Apt. Update

Today Madeline had her second doctor's appointment. We got to meet Dr. Chase, who was incredibly nice! They checked her weight, and she is up from 6lbs. 11 oz. two weeks ago, to 7lbs. 9 oz., and her length is up to 21 inches. She is in the 75th percentile for her height, and 30th percentile for her weight. All systems were in check and she was given a clean bill of health! She is due back at the office for her 2 month check up at the beginning of January.

Here is a photo of her on the scale at the office. Poor little thing was miserable. She hates being naked. Let's keep it that way! HA!!

Madeline's First trip to Hershey!

Yesterday we got all bundled up and made our first road trip to Hershey! Madeline slept most of the day, including both trips in the car. She did wake up a few times when we stopped to visit with Aunt Kristin at work, Uncle Chet and Anne, and Aunt Vae! We were busy, busy, busy! Madeline told me how great it was great to see everyone, and finally meet Uncle Chet and Aunt Vae. And to top it all off we ended the day with dinner at the Macaroni Grill. So good!

Uncle Chet and Madeline! I love this photo, it turned out so great!

My little mouse all bundled up to hit the road for Hershey . . . Before she fell asleep!

Visit from Grandma and Bella!

Grandma and Bella came to visit this week! It was great to have the extra help from my mom. She helped me with a lot of my firsts with Madeline ... First trip to the store, first trip to work, and first car ride to Hershey! It was so nice to have them here to visit.

Before they left, we grabbed a few photos.

Quite possibly the cutest photos yet ...

Here is Madeline at 2 weeks old. The outfit is way too big, so it had to come off after the photo, but we tried.

...and here she is falling over after the shot was taken. Too funny.

Loving the Baby Bjorn and my little mouse hat!

And here is how she fell asleep on dad the other night.

Photos from the Weekend

This weekend was a pretty quite one. Dad was away from Friday night until Saturday afternoon. It was pretty lonely, but Madeline and I made it through just fine. Yesterday Brad enjoyed a cigar outside on our patio, with some company from Sadie to keep him warm in the cool 40 degree temperature! And better yet, Uncle Brian Allen came to visit!

First Walk

Today it is a gorgeous, sunny fall day in State College. The temperature outside right now is 65 degrees, though it feels more like 70! It is too nice to stay all cooped inside. So Madeline and I got outside for her first walk! We circled the neighborhood for a good 45 minutes, and even made it down to the bike path. The view and the company was excellent, though she did sleep through the entire thing. It was great to get out!

Here are a few photos from our BIG walk!

First time in the stroller!

Even though it was warm out, I still had Madeline bundled up.

The bike path portion of our walk! Gorgeous!

And here she is passed out from the walk! This is the first time she hasn't been all snuggled up in a ball, and it cracked me up, so of course, I had to grab a photo!

Madeline's First Video Game

Yesterday I ran out to run a few quick errands, and when I returned, I found Madeline asleep in daddy's arms, while he was playing a video game. It was too cute to not grab a photo of! I guess dad wanted to start her early!

And finally, a photo of Miss. Madeline awake in her swing. I feel like all of her photos are of her asleep, so I wanted to post this one of her wide awake.

Sunday Brunch at the Nittany Lion Inn

In the past few weeks or so, Brad and I got into the habit of going to the Nittany Lion Inn for Sunday brunch. We didn't go every week, but it was nice to get out and enjoy a great breakfast every now and then. Since Aunt Sarah and Uncle Mark were in town this past weekend we decided it would be the perfect place to go, and Madeline got her first taste of brunch, though not literally.

Here is a photo of Madeline at her first brunch, 6 days old, and come to think of it our first "family" photo. Not a peep was heard out of her!

Final Nittany Lion Shrine Photo

I completely forgot to post this one, but yes, we did indeed stop at the Nittany Lion Shrine to grab our last photo in the series of 9 months! Even though it was about 30 degrees and snowing, we stopped on the way home from the hospital and grabbed a photo with Madeline. We stuffed her into her bunting that is way, way, way too big for her, and grabbed a quick photo. Not the best, but it'll do for now. I am sure over the next few years we will have many more photos of Miss. Madeline at the shrine.

Enjoying Daddy Time

Madeline loves snuggling with her dad, and dad of course loves snuggling with her. Here she is all snuggled up with him last night.

Visitors!

This weekend we were blessed with many visitors. Madeline finally was able to meet her Aunts, Kristin and Sarah, as well as Uncle Mark, Uncle Jamey was sick and was unable to make the trip. :( Madeline was also able to meet her Great, Great Grandma, for whom she is named after. Great Grandma Madeline Ayres, made the trip from Hershey to State College. At 96 years-old, Grandma was so happy to finally meet our little Maddie. I think it was love at first sight. It was like the good-old days, at the Church Nursery on Elm Street in Hershey, minus the Apple Jacks, when Maddie was finally in Great Grandma's arms. Kristin and Sarah both commented on how happy she seemed while holding and singing lullabies to her.

Daddy Time

I think daddy is in love...

You don't think...

...Hanna is jealous do you?

This is where we found Hanna last night. I think my little baby is having a hard time coping with our newest addition.

Our first Trick-or-Treater!

Last night we had the privilege to have our first trick-or-treater at our house. Our good friends Justin and Kelly brought their little girl Oliva, who is 5 months old, to visit Madeline, and to our surprise, Miss. Olivia was dressed up as a fairy! She loved her tutu and was completely adorable. Before they headed out we had to grab a photo of the two, as well as the two daddies. Oliva gave great hugs and kisses to Madeline.

Apt. Update

We made it to our first appointment with the pediatrician yesterday. Dr. McCormick is incredibly nice, and he even knows our Uncle Chet! So right away we knew that we were in good hands! Miss. Madeline was weighed and given the once over by Dr. McCormick, who said that she is doing great! She has a bit of jaundice, and her weight is now at 6lbs 11 oz., but he said that it was within the range that most babies are after birth. Whew! We were given the all clear to head out and to head back in two weeks.
