Thank you Joe.

Last week was a hard one, and though personally I have only met Joe Paterno a hand full of times, his loss feels like losing family. Maybe it's from all of the stories I've gotten to listen to my husband and his former teamates share over the years or maybe it's my tie to this campus. I'm not sure, but his loss last week truely felt like we lost a member of our family. I know for all of Brad's former teammates who came in last week it felt a lot more like they lost a father. From all of the amazing stories and memories, Joe was a father to them both on and off of the football field. He cared more about them as people than he would ever care for as football players, and to many that's what made Joe Paterno so special. It is also what made him a father to every single person who attended Penn State. People came to Penn State because of Joe, whether they realized it at the time or not. Joe Paterno is Penn State and will always BE Penn State. Brad and I did get a chance to go to his viewing, that I am very grateful for (http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7497118/joe-paterno-penn-state-nittany-lions-players-alumni-pay-respects-farewell). One more thing, the song playing on our blog is from a tribute video made for Joe, it's a must watch. Very touching.

These photos are from last week, taken on the evening of his memorial service. The last night the Stadium would be lit up to honor such an amazing man.

Snow Day!

Yesterday we had our first decent snow of the year...finally! Madeline was eager to get out and play in the white stuff and luckily a few of our friends were up for some sledding too! We had a great morning outside, the kiddos lasted over an hour outside. I was suprised at how well they did. Then it was home to take a nice long nap.

Maya's first time in the snow...not 100% sure about it.

Avery's Newborn Photoshoot

We finally picked the photos from Avery's newborn photoshoot. Not an easy task. And yes, we still have some orders left to place. That said, I scanned in her photos (shhhh), for you all to look at. They aren't the best quality b/c of scanning, but at least now you can see them. Also, for those family members who would like to purchase any of the photos below let me know. I believe the cost was $15 for a 5x7, but don't quote me on that one.

2 Month Checkup for Avery

Avery had her 2 month check up the other day and we are happy to report that she is one healthy little girl! We did confirm that her baby acne is indeed seborrea, which should go away on it's own, but in the mean time we have some new body wash and lotion to use. Whew. That's a relief for momma. She got several shots, which she hated and broke momma's heart. I don't think I had a dry eye after that. She spent most of the day napping on momma, since I have had the stomach bug the past few days and then slept for a whopping 6.5 hours. THANK YOU! With Momma and Daddy being sick we needed those hours of extra rest.

Weight: 11.3 oz (35 percentile)
Length: 24 in. (93 percentile)
I knew she was long! We are already outgrowing our 0-3 clothes!

Here she is just before we had to wake her up for her shots. Poor girl.

Sleeping on momma during for rest of the day.

Fun with Photos

I got some new editing tools for Photoshop the other day and couldn't resist playing with some of the photos I have taken. Love these new toys and how they make my baby glow :)

These first two photos are from our hayride at the apple farm this fall. I never did get around to posting those. Boo.

And these are from us crafting the other day. Isn't she cute? What you can't see is Madeline's crazy bed head hair in these photos.

Deal of the week!

The other night after Madeline went to bed I headed out to grab some deals before my coupons expired. It was perfect timing since we were just about out of half of the items on the list. I bought most of the stuff at CVS, and a few other items at Target. In all it cost about $163.20, YIKES! But I didn't pay that, of course not! Below is the photo of everything I bought.

2-12 packs of Bounty paper towels
2-9 packs of Charmin toilet paper
3-boxes of Puffs tissues
1-3 pack of Huggies wipes
3-Pantene conditioners
3-Pantene shampoos
3-Pantene mousses
1-7 pack AA Duracell batteries
1-4 pack of D Duracell batters
3-Venus razors (full size)
3-packages of Oral B Floss
3-bottles of Dawn dish soap
3-3 packs of Ivory soap
2-FREE subscriptions to Allure Magazine (Bundled in with the shampoo/conditioner packages I bought. BONUS!).

I paid $52.77 for ALL of it. WINNING! Wahoo! Seeing that just the three razors cost about $30 alone, this might be one of my best buys yet.

Just like Momma

Madeline likes to do a lot of the same things that I do, which really is quite cute. And lately she likes to do her hair with the new princess hair salon kit she got for Christmas. She even stores them in my drawer, adorable.

Curling her hair like momma.

I love that this is what I find when I open my drawer to dry my hair. Adorable.
