Madeline's First Gymnastics Meet

This weekend, Aunt Sarah and Grandma came up for a visit. It was a great weekend, and fabulous to see everyone. Madeline's favorite part of the visit was going to her first gymnastics meet. And who better to do it with than a former gymnast, Aunt Sarah! It was Regionals here at PSU, and we got to watch great teams like Oklahoma, LSU, and Penn State, just to name a few. Madeline had a great time, and made it through about an hour and a half of the meet. IT was almost bedtime, and it was about 100 degrees inside Rec. Hall, so Madeline and Daddy said goodbye. Thanks for visiting! We can't wait to do it again!

Madeline and Daddy watching the meet!

For a few minutes, Madeline sat and intently watched the meet. Sometimes she would get really excited when she heard the crown clap, and yell and clap too! Other times she would hear the music to the floor routine and do her own little two-step.

Me and Madeline, Oh well, we tried.

Madeline and Aunt Sarah.

Madeline trying on Aunt Sarah's glasses = FUN!

It was so hot in Rec Hall we stripped her down to her onsie! Check out those rosey cheeks.

Easter Sunday

We had a busy Easter weekend! As you have already read, we had an Easter party and an egg hunt on Saturday, then Saturday night we dyed eggs, and the Easter Bunny got Madeline's basket ready. We had a fabulous Sunday Brunch at the club, followed by a nice nap, followed up by "egg"cellent egg hunt, and a fabulous steak dinner. We could not have asked for a more beautiful Easter Sunday to spend with our family.

Dyeing eggs...

Preparing the Easter Basket, full with books, toys (courtesy of Aunt Sarah and Uncle Mark, and a new backpack!)

On Sunday morning Madeline woke up bright and early! It only took her a few minutes to find her basket.

Then she found more gifts from Grandma Ayres!

And decided to walk around the house with her two new dresses. I think she really liked them!

After all of the initial excitement, we got dressed for brunch. Madeline wore one of my old Easter Dresses. It fit her perfectly, and she got so many compliments on her pretty dress :)

I had to take a few shots of her in the dress...okay A LOT.

Easter Egg hunt! Madeline was a pro!

Madeline and her best friend even went looking in the pine tree! Sorry, none there!

LOOK DADDA! I found one!

Mommy and her baby girl.

Then we changed into something a bit more comfortable and played outside.

And of course she had to wear her new back pack for a while...notice the play bottle of ketchup in the side pocket.

Easter Party!

Today we had the Easter Party at the club! Madeline had a blast, and even found one egg on the hunt! She definitely knows what she is doing, but a lot of the big kids found most of the eggs first. No matter, she was please with the one egg she found and the other egg another little girl gave her. I am sure she'll have a blast when the Easter Bunny hides them at our house tomorrow!

First Madeline and daddy made a bunny craft.

Look Dad! I found one!!!!!

Gotta put it in my bag :)

Meeting the "Easter Bunny," somehow this bunny looks curiously like Buggs Bunny...think they are cousins?

Exploring the putting green.

Had to get a close up of these cute little toes.

Leisurly stroll around the yard

This morning was gorgeous, so while daddy was at the gym, Madeline and I decided to go on a nice 45 minute walk around the neighborhood. After we got back, Madeline was eager to get in some walking of her own...

So we started by checking out the patio furniture and the new pansies!

Then we decided to check out the yard...

And the path...

Madline was lucky enough to have one of her best friends with her on the walk ...

Then we found some flowers that had blossomed...

By the end of it Madeline was pooped and decided to put mommy's slippers on and relax. Ahhhhhh.

Play date!

On Friday we had a play date at Jake and Cora's house! Reagan and her mom even came too! Madeline had a blast playing with everyone, running around their big yard and especially with the sandbox! Thanks for having us on such a gorgeous day!

Vintage Easter

I found this photo in my baby book when I was looking for the bottle photo below. In honor of the season I figured it would be a good post. This was probably when I was about a year old, if that, and also probably right before Sarah or Timmy was about to come and shove me to the ground. Ahhhh sibling love.

I think I see some peeps!

Like Mother Like Daughter

When I was little I almost always used to carry around two bottles. Why I don't know, but specifically remember doing this. Fred and Barney were my favorites. Maybe it was because I had several older siblings who wouldn't let me have anything of my own, maybe it's because they tormented me relentlessly "Amanda what's between your ears?" or maybe it's because I was hungry? Who knows, at any rate I did it. And the other day I caught Madeline carrying around two of her sippy cups. I had to laugh, and of course take a photo.

Vintage mommy, and family too.

Freeze Pop

Madeline got a little boo-boo today at day care. She was out on the playground, when she lost her balance and took a tumble to the ground. Her lip and nose got bumped, not badly at all, but enough to notice, and make the rest of the teachers take turns holding her the rest of the time they were outside. Sorry ladies! Since Madeline got a little boo-boo, they gave her a freeze pop! She never had one before, but apparently she handled it like a pro and went to town with it! Who knew?

So I had to run an errand today, and decided those freeze pops sounded like a good idea, for boo-boos and especially with this warm weather. Yummo! I think my sister and I would eat about 10 a day in the summer. After dinner I surprised Madeline with her very own freeze pop! She got really excited and at first did great. Then as time went on...not so great. Ugh. What was I thinking?!?! She wanted to hold the freeze pop, out of the plastic, turn it upside-down, suck on it, but the plastic, not the pop, sending liquid stickiness flying around the kitchen , and all over her. By the time she was "done," she was a mess, and her clothing was mostly red. It's now marinating in a bath of oxyclean. Oh well, I think we'll have to try again, next time, maybe naked. Ha.

Oh and by the way, did I mention I decided to take the pacifier away from her today after this accident? Cold turkey baby. Nap time went great, it's the night time I am worried about. It took her about 45 minutes to fall asleep tonight, but she did it! Sans paci and all. Yay! Let's hope this works! Cross your fingers.

Starting out pretty good!

Hamming it up for the camera.

Okay, really hamming it up for the camera!

Mmmmmmmm.... (can you see the boo-boo on her top lip?)

Annnnnnnn a complete and total mess. Success by any toddler's assessment.
