Aunt Kristin is Silly!

Madeline received her first piece of mail yesterday. It was from Aunt Kristin at Kirman Eye, she sent us information to make sure we get Madeline's eyes get checked once she is born. And what it's like to see through a baby's eyes. FYI, it's not very clear at all. Who knew? Thanks for the reminder!

Updates to the Nursery

So we are almost there! I think I can say that the nursery is 100% finished, minus the bundle of joy to go in it...HA! Anyway, we finally got around to hanging a mirror above the changing table, and hanging the name above the mirror. I am pretty pleased with how it has turned out so far.

We also hung the monitor above the crib, and we are now prepared so that we can keep an eye on Miss. Madeline once she arrives. It's a camera/sound monitor so that we can see her from anywhere in the house, believe me I took it all the way in the basement to make sure it worked. I can see the entire crib on the little screen. It's the best!

We received our bouncer that we registered for the other day from our friends Kelly and Justin, and I got my peanut shell (Sorry no photo), I registered for from Heather and Mike. Thanks so much guys, I love it all!

34 Weeks 4 Days

Better late than never right? Brad and I finally got around to taking my belly shot for this week this morning. I am large and in charge. Watch out!

I've been Lazy

I know I have been a bit lazy these past few days. The weather hasn't been very motivating, and on top of I've been exhausted and sick. In turn, my posts have been few and far in between. I've been taking the photos, just haven't had a chance to post them. I am going to do my best to get back on track starting today. Sorry!

I Just Realized...

...that my ticker is officially under 50 days! 49 days to go!!!!! I just noticed this and it has made me incredibly happy. That's all! Yay!

Adorable Clothes

So these few outfits are just a few of the adorable little pieces we have gotten as gifts. I will try to take a few more photos later on, as one of our friends got us a Halloween costume for next year, and it's just too adorable not to post a photo of.

This cute little outfit I actually bought. I used to collect monkey's when I was little, and anyone in my family knows that I still have a slight obsession with them. Well, I already have some onesies and a pair of shoes that have monkey's on them, b/c I simply couldn't resist, but they are very "boyish." So when I was down town this week and found this PINK outfit with monkey's all over it I couldn't resist. It was a bit expensive, but there was no way I was leaving this store with out it! Take a look at the feet...they are little sock monkey's too! Soooooooooooooooo adorable!

This cute little outfit is from my brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Joyce. This outfit has elephant's on it. Maybe we'll have the whole jungle soon! Anyway, I love, love, LOVE this outfit. And the pants are soft velour fabric!

I guess I never realized how much I like animals/nature etc. But it's quickly becoming more and more apparent to me that I LOVE it all. This adorable little outfit has snails all over it. It was a gift from one of our friends at our shower this weekend.

Brrrrrr!

So this morning when I woke up, the temperature was about 47 degrees. Craziness right? I must admit, I love it. Sweater weather is my favorite and it's also been great sleeping weather. However, I think Ms. Hanna feels differently. While I was getting ready for work she spent the morning tucked into my maternity pillow. And it's just too cute of a shot not to post. Don't you just want to pick her up and cuddle her? I mean seriously...too cute. (I know, I am obsessed—clearly I should seek help for this problem.) :)

Our Car Seat Arrived!

Brad and I decided that we should probably buckle down and buy the car seat, since in only 3 weeks (yes!) I will be considered full-term. I think I placed the order on Monday, and the shipping said it wouldn't be delivered until sometime late next week. But when we got home from Second Mile last night, we had several large packages on our front porch! They must have been delivered while we were out.

So here it is! We have two bases, one for my car and one for Brads. I think Ms. Madeline will enjoy it. It's one of the top rated car seats in terms of safety and you have to admit, it is pretty darn chic, lol! Now all we have to do is figure out how to install the darn thing! There wasn't time for that last night. I think it might be a project for the weekend.

33 Weeks

Here we are "officially" at 33 Weeks. Sorry for looking a little surprised in the photo, I wasn't really quite ready when Brad took the photo. So this is what we got. Over all feeling pretty good, the same stuff as usual. However, I must say that the kicks are starting to become a bit painful at times. This little one must really have it out for me. I guess I can deal with it for a few more weeks, now if only I could get her to center herself in my stomach...clearly she doesn't have the skills of a dancer/gymnast down yet, or she would know what "center" meant! Shesh, is that too much to ask for? Kidding...I kid.

33 Week Doctor's Visit

Technically I don't get to 33 weeks until tomorrow, but what the heck, what's one day right? We had our second 2 week doctor's apt. this morning and seems like everything, meaning my weight, blood pressure and baby, are right on track.

I swear if you asked me, I would say this baby is breach, but apparently not. Our Doctor, and good friend Liz Raquet, indeed verified that she is definitely head down. Which explains why I constantly have a foot or hand sticking in my rib cage. Though, I must say she is prone to resting mostly on my right hand side. Weird. I asked if we could determine the weight, and she said not really with out measuring on an ultrasound, but that she is most likely around 4lbs. Whew! Right on track. If I can avoid pushing out an 8lb baby it'll be fabulous.

Two more, two week visits and then it's on to the weekly visits, which means I'll be full-term (36 weeks). Yessssssssssssssssssssss! So yes, we are all doing well. Just hoping for the next 7 weeks or so to fly by quickly.

8 Month Lion Shrine Photo

I guess we are about a week late for the 8 month photo. But it's as close as we were going to get. After our Doctor's apt. this morning Brad and I zipped over to the shrine, quickly snapped the photo and then it was back to work. By the way, I must say the weather in State College has been picture perfect lately. Crisp fall mornings, nice warm afternoons, and cool evenings. I love it! So happy fall is upon us!

Gifts!

Here is just a short view of some of the amazing gifts we received this past weekend. I'll try to take some more photos of the clothing we got...there are tons!

This is the amazing baby blanket my mom made for our little one. It is so incredibly soft and has the pink silkies around the edge. This has to be my most favorite gift of all of them—it made me cry...go figure!

Our new jogging stroller from my mom and Brad's mom. Hanna says Thanks Grandma Ayres and Grandma Howe, this thing is fun! She seriously loved being in it!

Brad putting together our pack-n-play from my grandma.

The fabulous little lamb swing from A. Sarah and U. Mark. It's so cute...now all we need are the batteries so we can figure out how it works!

Some amazing toys from my wonderful girl friends, Jessica, Jami, Hope, Bridget and Tina, "to help keep our little one entertained, while I drink wine and talk on the phone to all of them." You guys are the best! Thank you so much!

Baby Shower!

This past weekend, my mom, grandma, and my lovely sisters, came up to State College to throw me a baby shower! It was so awesome to have them in town and show them all of the stuff I had been up to the past few months. They all did so much for this shower, it was absolutely wonderful. From the bottle centerpieces, and homemade carriage cookies, to the amazing cake, they all went out of their way. This little girl is definitely going to be spoiled. What great Grandma's and Aunties she is going to have.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out and celebrate with us. Your support and friendship really means a lot to Brad and I both. And all of the amazing gifts that we received are amazing, and yes, to all of you who took bets, all of the clothing is washed and put away. Brad and I were quite busy yesterday.

Here are a few photos from the shower.

My mom, my sisters and my grandma all went in together and bought our little girl this wagon. A. Kristin completed it by making custom seat pads for it, and a matching quilt with our little one's name on it....look closely and you'll see it!
(She is being named after my grandma).

The cookie favor, which my sister Kristin made, and one of the games we played: name the baby animal—which was so hard! Only a lawyer would pick this game out, thanks A. Sarah, I decided I didn't have to play! Ha ha.

The flowers were sitting in baby bottles!

The amazing food!

The completely adorable cake my mom picked out and brought up from Harrisburg. It was spice cake, which I requested, with pumpkin mousse filling. Almost too cute to eat....I said almost!

Me and my massive belly trying to cut the cake....

Me and my grandma, 96 years-old today—Happy Birthday Grandma, this is the lady from whom our little on is getting her name.

Me and my Mom!

Me and my amazing sisters. Kristin and Sarah.

Booties please

Found these cute little leather shoes at Target this past weekend. They are just too cute to not post a photo of—and at only $10 they were a bargain.

32 Weeks

Here we are at 32 Weeks. Slowly, but surely we are getting there! Feeling fine overall, just a bit tired on a routine basis.

Excited for this weekend though, it's my baby shower! Hopefully we'll get lot's of goodies to help us complete our nursery! My sister, Sarah, is coming up tonight and the rest of the family will be in town tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing everyone, even if it is for just a few hours.

Sciatica

Our little one has been sitting on my sciatic nerve for the last several days. It's so bad I can barely stand up after sitting at my desk. Even lying down doesn't seem to help. I got a prescription for darvocet yesterday, but so far it has been making me sick, (Like I haven't thrown up enough this pregnancy) so I am not sure if it's worth it, though I might try it one more time, just to make sure it's not a coincidence. Anyway, exercise has been little to none lately, because of it. Me walking right now is not a pretty sight.

So, for all of you who are not fortunate enough to share in my pain, I thought maybe I would educate you on sciatic nerve pain during pregnancy. Enjoy!

What is Sciatica and How Can It Affect Pregnancy?
The sciatic nerve is a long nerve that runs from the lower back to the back of the legs and feet. Typically this nerve allows feeling in the muscles of the legs and feet. There are times however when the sciatic nerve can become inflamed, whether from pressure in the back or injury. When this happens people experience sciatic pain. Sometimes persistent or chronic pressure to the sciatic nerve can result in weakness in the leg or surrounding areas, numbness or even tingling. Some women describe the sensation as similar to the feeling of pins and needles you get when your leg falls asleep.

Many women develop sciatica during pregnancy, though sciatica isn't a result necessarily of being pregnant. Pressure on the sciatic nerve during pregnancy can lead to backache or other discomfort. Some women assume that the baby presses on the sciatic nerve resulting in pain or discomfort. This is not necessarily however the case. Many times sciatic pain during pregnancy results from damage to a disc in the spine. This can cause inflammation in the tissues surrounding the never or result in direct pressure to the nerve (if for example, the disc has slipped out of place and is compressing the nerve). Women who are pregnant are more prone to disc injury, hence the relationship.

Many women will have developed sciatica at some point or another whether pregnant or not. It may be coincidence that they experience pain and discomfort during their pregnancy. Some women will feel pain or tingling in their back and leg while others will only notice discomfort in one or the other area. Some women experience pelvic pain during pregnancy which is sometimes mistaken for sciatic pain.

Typically the symptoms of sciatica in pregnancy include the following:

  • Pins and needles in the lower back or leg, possibly the affected foot.
  • Shooting or burning in the leg, buttock or lower back.
  • Pain in the lower back or back of the pelvis that may extend into the foot.
  • Numbness in the leg or feet.
Now doesn't all of this sound like fun?!?!?!

31 Weeks

Here we are at 31 weeks. Blagh....need I say more.

Anyway, here is some information on what is up with the little one this week and why I am feeling so lovely....riiiiiiiiight.

Weighing in at well over three pounds, baby is about half his birth weight. Now that he measures about 18 inches (45 cm) long, you can tell that bones and muscles are continuing to grow along with his organs and brain. If you haven't already been talking to your baby, now is the time to start. Until now, he interpreted sounds as vibrations. But this week he can hear actual sounds and will begin to recognize your voice or the music you play.

Apt. Update

This morning we had our 30 week visit to the doctor's apt. Everything went well, I am measuring right on schedule, blood pressure is great and I think I even dropped a pound or two on the scale! Who hoo! Baby's heart rate was also great, right around 140 beats. And my second glucose test that I had to take two weeks ago, came back fine. Whew, b/c lord knows I have been shoveling in the candy corn quicker than you can say Halloween!

Our next apt. is in another two weeks on Sept. 18th. :)

Insommnia Strikes...

Okay, can I just say that it's so not fair! I mean, I was exhausted at 9 p.m. tonight when I dragged my butt up the stairs. I could barely keep my eyes open, and here I am, almost 3 a.m. and I am on the freaking computer-mind you I have already been up for at least 1 hour just tossing and turning. It's totally not fair. I am going to have another exhausting day tomorrow, I just know it. Ugh.

Sweet dreams to all of you who can actually sleep! **Glare**

Hanna's Chair

Ms. Hanna always likes to sit right behind me when I do work in the office. Yesterday she decided to make herself nice and comfortable—leaving barely any room for my every growing butt—and she was just too cute to not grab a photo of it. And the photos turned out so cute! Here she is in "her" chair, or so she thinks.
